Use of indirect contact food contact
It is prohibited to print inks in direct contact with food products unless the raw materials belong to the Codex Alimentarius (depending on certain quantities) and if the ink does not alter the flavor or taste of the product. As far as indirect food contact is concerned, in summary, the ink components must not be included in the EuPIA exclusion list and for UV inks, they must have a certificate of low migration, in particular for photographs -initiateurs. The fact of printing an ink of this type, however, imposes on the printer to check that nothing will contaminate the printing medium and the inks during the necessary period of time between the entry and the exit of the supports in the society. In addition, it must be checked whether the support itself is allowed for indirect food contact.
